MY STORY
Past, Present, Future
My name is Tana Kelley, and the importance of the news and storytelling became clear to me in my youth.Â
I was born in Pretoria, South Africa but moved to the United States early on in my life. I settled down with my family in Portland, Oregon.
This is where my journalistic passion showed itself. I worked at my school's newspaper in both middle and high school. I became the photo editor at my high school newspaper called "The Trojan Horse."
But I never realized my passion for broadcast journalism until I moved to Missouri and first started attending The University of Missouri. I joined MUTV, the school's student-run station. Then I quickly progressed to the local NBC affiliate KOMU where I reported, anchored and was a live operator/photographer.Â
I am currently in my third job as a morning anchor for Wake Up Montana and Good Day Spokane. Previously, I reported and anchored weekends at KHQ Local News in Spokane, Washington. Before that, I worked for two years at ABC57 News in South Bend, Indiana. Every day I seek new challenges. I think it's integral to growth to continue finding ways to engage our audience in Spokane.
In the future, I'd like to tell longer-form stories whether it's investigative or feature. It challenges my writing and shooting abilities and makes me a better journalist.
